SUMMARY OF THE PROJECT ( DARE)

What is the ratinale,issues,needs to be adressed by the Project?

The title of our Comenius Project is the “DISABLED CHILDREN:ACCEPT,RESPECT, EMPHATY.” We hope our project will raise awareness amongst our pupils, staff and parents of  society where children with disabilities are not at a disadvantage, but participate fully in society in a dignified way at schools.   Social inclusion lies at the heart of our work
Social inclusion for people with a visual, hearing, physical or other handicaps means working to help them to gain equal rights in society. It also means helping society understand their needs and respect those rights. Social inclusion includes providing training and opportunities for people with disabilities, and making sure that education does not discriminate against or exclude children with disabilities. Beside these important aims, another important aim, to me  it is very crucial aim in European projects, is encouraging our pupils about learning language.

 

In what way is the Project innovative or the complementary for the sake of activities?

We have a number of concrete activities including charming points. For instance , with our ” FOCUS ON AWARENESS”  activity we’re going to start. This activity’s goal is about the  leaving the school at a very early age and generalizing the kindergarten amongst the disabled children. NO LIMITS activity will develop a concious of abolishing the differences between non-disabled children and disabled children. These are some samples of our Project.

Who is the staff and  do we work with?

I am Fatma Nurdan Aksoy, english language teacher and the contact person.We are primary school in Manisa located in the west of Turkey. We have some handicapped and disabled students.  We are based in an economically disadvantaged area.  Most of  our students endangered by social marginalization which is caused by poverty, unemployment of the parents’ and immigration problems. We have a number of special needs pupils and a great number of immigrant families’ pupils from the east parts of Turkey. Preliminary we would like to cooparate with european schools having the same qualities like us.  We have planned to work with the local communities or NGOs.

Conclusion

Finally We will have  changed the attitudes of the pupils educational staff and the local communities towards the disabled children. They will have known what they do and how they treat. Besides, we will have helped our pupils and educational staff beter understand the range of European cultures,languages and values and Would you like to cooparate with us? Come and be a light of the disabled children….
